Who can join Openarts?

Membership costs just $10. The group includes painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers, designers, craft makers, musicians and writers. Everyone is welcome to join and extend the range.

What do they do?

The principle activity in each year is the organization of a group exhibition. Subject to arrangements and management of space, any member of Openarts can submit contributions of work to be exhibited. The committee may also invite contributions from high profile artists living outside the peninsula. Other activities may involve writing or music, like readings and songs.

How do members relate to Openarts?

Members offer the organization various levels of activity and a range of expertise, the common aims being: personal development, community involvement, to gain experience in the arts, to create alternative interests beyond working careers, to motivate one another, to increase levels of communication, to attract workshops to the peninsula, to offer space for artists to extend their work via support groups and studio visits, to share insights into and knowledge of a range of artistic practise, to develop a writing forum and to socialise and widen one's circle of friends.
